My academic background includes a Bachelor's in History from Hampshire College and a Ph.D. in History from Northeastern University. I have Massachusetts licensure to teach secondary History and am currently finishing on a Master's in Education in Social Studies Curriculum and Teaching. I have over a decade of teaching experience, as an educator at numerous historic sites and college and high school teacher. I love working one-on-one with students. I am especially passionate about building skills, such as analyzing documents and using evidence, and helping students understand key concepts and debates in history. I believe that students who are able to critically think and communicate about the past will be able to change our current world for the better.
I have expertise in United States and World History and have taught these subjects at the college and high school levels. I can go over and explain conceptions and key events in history. I also work with a lot of AP history students on strategies for answering multiple choice and document-based questions.
Having taught historical writing to college and high school students, I am able to break down the writing process into concrete steps and work with students to reflect on areas of strength and areas of growth. It takes time and practice to write well. Beyond getting good grades, I want my students to feel empowered by how well they can communicate in writing.
Please feel free to contact me to learn more and schedule lessons. This is not an easy time to be a student, and I look forward to supporting your learning!
