About Brian

I am licensed in Moderate Special Needs 5-12, and Social Studies 5-12, and Math 5-8. I just passed the MTEL for ELL and in the process of obtaining licenser. I am currently employed by the Worcester Public Schools as a special needs teacher. I have experience teaching math at both the high school and middle school levels as well as reading and writing at the middle and high school levels. I help coach my daughter's soccer team and volunteer with my son's scout troop. I am mild mannered and have a good rapport with students, even ones that some may consider difficult. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADHD

I am licensed in moderate special needs in Massachusetts grades 5-12. My Massachusetts License #: 311653. I have ten years experience working with students that have ADD/ADHD. I have experience adapting lessons to fit the needs of students with ADD/ADHD. I understand that not students with ADD/ADHD are also special needs students but often receive accommodations under a 504 plan.

I've been playing chess since I was nine years old. I have taught students how to play chess over the years.

I am licensed in moderate special needs in Massachusetts grades 5-12. I have ten years experience working with students that have ADD/ADHD, Learning disabilities, and emotional disabilities. I continue to take professional development courses in this area. I have a master's degree in special education.

Study Skills

As a special needs teacher I have extensive experience teaching study skills to students. I have experience with helping them organize their thoughts through graphic organizers. I have experience teaching students how to take and organize notes effectively.
