Thank you for checking out my profile.
I have been both a private and public school tutor and teacher for over 25 years. I have taught both music (percussion) and I am currently tutoring students in academics (math, English, etc...). I have worked with all age groups. I prefer to stick with students who are in elementary school.
If you have the desire to learn, then together we can learn as much as the student wants to. I have also worked with Autistic students, as well as ADHD and ADD.
A parent of one of my former students recently commented that her daughter is now a straight A student.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you. Hi!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have and currently do work with ADD and ADHD students both as a private tutor and as a public school teacher. Having worked with students who have ADD and ADHD for some time now, I feel I can assist them in studying, studying habits, and keeping them focused and on track when/if there are times when they may need a little extra assistance.
I have worked with autistic students primarily in the public school setting, where there are plenty of possible options to maximize student potential. Depending on the student, I can present a wide range of opportunities. Some "mild" students may require very little assistance in keeping on track and focused. Others may require a bit more assistance. In any case, once it is known what works best for the student and how he/she learns, the rest falls into place quite nicely.
As with my prior music experience stated in the drums section of this profile, I have been a music composer now for about 2 years. I current country music song is under contract and is currently "in studio" for release (hopefully) this fall. I am also working on two different concert band pieces. With this experience as well as knowledge of the basics of music, I feel that I am in a wonderful position to be able to assist students with both songwriting as well as composing.
I have been a private drum instructor for 25 plus years and thoroughly enjoy music. I have taught everything from basic snare drum technique to reading music to drum set studies. I have also worked with most styles of music (the exception being rap and R and B). I have had several students go on to successfully compete in public school music festivals both in jazz and concert band music as well.
I studied privately for 7 years with one instructor, then studied professionally for another 4. I have also managed and performed with a 60 piece concert band for 15 years.
I am currently a public elementary school teacher and have been for the past 4 years. I have also taught middle school for one year. In addition, I have worked as a private tutor with elementary students (and some middle) for over 15 years. Basic skills of reading, writing, and math are the foundations of a good elementary education. I have assisted students with science and history, though this is not my strong point.
The experience I have had with teaching general music has evolved from the drums. Assisting students with composers as well as how to compose music itself, how to read music and also appreciate a band in concert, orchestra, rock, and jazz settings gives me great pride and joy.
As stated with the ADHD, ADD, autistic students, I have had a fair amount of experience working with these students. I currently have a student with a developmental delay. There are a wide variety of currently defined special needs, however, I feel strongly that the experience I have will be beneficial to assist students in their academic goals.
