About Maggie

Hi! I am currently in my 7th year teaching high school math. Now, I teach Geometry and Pre-Calculus and I have previously taught Algebra II and Statistics. I also spend a lot of time tutoring during school and as part of after-school programs to prepare students for standardized tests as well as in-class assessments like tests and quizzes.

I love teaching (and tutoring) because it is rewarding. It is great to make a personal connection with a student and to see them grow their confidence and ability. The A-ha moment is what it's all about. I believe in lifelong learning and I try to instill this idea in all of my students.

I have a wealth of math knowledge as well as tons of experience working with a variety of students at all different ability levels.

I am always up for a challenge! I look forward to getting to know each student and I can't wait to uncover their true potential.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

While teaching 10th grade Geometry, I continually implement Algebra I remediation in my classroom. Preparing students for the 10th grade MCAS exam requires that students are proficient in both Algebra I and Geometry. For those students who struggle with Algebra I, I often tutor them in this area on a regular basis.

Algebra 2

I have previously taught Algebra II at the high school level. I also focus on a number of Algebra II topics when I teach my Pre-Calculus students. As Algebra II topics continually show up on the SAT, I revisit these types of questions throughout the course.

Geometry

I have taught (and tutored) Geometry for 4 years. I work with students to master topics and improve their logic and reasoning skills through geometric proofs. I encourage students to apply advanced problem-solving skills.

Precalculus

I have taught Honors Pre-Calculus for three years now. I enjoy delving into more complex algebraic topics that ultimately prepare students for the rigor of college-level math courses. The trigonometry topics are also some of my favorite math to teach!
