About Heidi


My work as a dance/movement therapist and
speech/language pathologist began in 1969, bringing
together the nonverbal, verbal and creative aspects of
communication. I work with people of varying abilities
and ages. I was an adjunct teaching faculty member
at Antioch New England Dance/Movement Therapy
Graduate program for twelve years and served as an
Autism Specialist for the Massachusetts Department
of Education.

MY SERVICES INCLUDE:

Embodied Psychotherapy in which the body serves as primary source for physical sensation, memory, image, emotion, personal narrative, and interpersonal communication.

Autism Spectrum Disorder Coaching and Consulting and treatment for individuals and families dealing specifically
with Aspergers’ Syndrome.

Speech/Language Therapy specializing in social communication skills and early intervention.

Authentic Movement, which is an in-depth meditative movement practice.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

I have worked with non-verbal and verbal people with Autism since 1970. I was a ASD trainer hired by the Ma. Dept of Education under a grant to provide training, modeling, direct service and family outreach. I am a licensed Speech/ Language Pathologist who has worked with people on the spectrum for over 30 years.

Ballroom Dancing

I have taught ballroom dancing to people for their weddings and other important occasions. I am a Cajun and zydeco teacher as well. My profession as a Dance/Movement Therapist makes teaching dance to people in a style that is non-judgement and fun.

Dyslexia

I am a licensed Speech/Language Pathologist who as worked with special needs children and people with reading problems and dyslexia as part of my practice. My work has been in schools as well as homes.

Special Needs

I have helped students of all ages and abilities learn strategies using their preferred learning style. My approach is non-judgement, creative and effective.
I have experience working with people who need to structure their time and organize their subject, both for students with disabilities as well as college/graduate students whom I have taught at Antioch New England, Springfield College, and Hampshire college.
