Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

I hold a masters degree from Lesley University in Elementary Education with a dual certification in elementary and special education. I have worked as a special educator for the past 9 years in the public schools. My expertise lies in the area of reading, particularly teaching dyslexic students. I have taught both in a language based classroom and an inclusion setting. I have had students with autism (aspergers and odd) as well as many with ADD/ADHD. My goal as a teacher is to create hands on multisensory lessons so that my students can access the curriculum that they need. I have taught students with autism reading, writing and mathematics in a language learning center for the past two years. This includes discrete trial teaching and behavioral interventions. I have taken a 45 hour Relias Learning Class in different methods of teaching students on the autism spectrum.
