I am a licensed teacher in the state of Massachusetts who is looking for eager students to tutor. I just graduated with my Master in Education in Elementary Education and have already served at two different public schools in the Pioneer Valley in a long-term capacity over the past year as a student teacher. I also have tutoring experience from Grand Rapids, Michigan. I love working with students, whether it be for 30 minutes or 3 hours, and giving them the encouragement, attention, and advice necessary to succeed. I am an active person who loves sports, talking with people, and traveling. However, few things compare to my love of learning, and helping students learn.
I am committed to students who I receive as tutors. I am committed to a high standard of education, and anyone who I tutor will be held to high standards so that they can excel to their utmost potential. My long term goals for students is not just to pass their courses, but to have long-term success, and to be prepared for college and their future career.
I love history. I grew up going to a Classical Christian school, where I studied the classics. I am familiar with Greek and Latin and have translated parts of "The Bible," the "Aeneid," and Caesar's "Gallic Wars," among other works. I study history for fun, and am writing a historical fiction novel set in Medieval Gaul.
In my experience in a public school this past Spring, I designed and taught a unit in early American History. I also taught a 3 day practicum on Medieval European History this summer. I love teaching in story-telling format and through crafts and songs. However, I am not unaccustomed to the academic rigor involved in history. I passed my AP US History MTEL in high school, and am preparing to take History MTEL. History can be a challenge for some students, but part of the way I want to help students to succeed is to find history enjoyable, and above all, relevant.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
