I attended the New England Conservatory of Music's pilot Suzuki Program offered at Dana Hall School in Wellesley from 1966 until it ended in 1975. After that, I attended the Conservatory at Rivers in Weston until I graduated in 1980 with a certificate in performance on the violin. After that, I attended the Conservatory at Rivers in Weston until I graduated in 1980 with a certificate in performance on the violin. I was considered a "gifted" violinist from an early age, and my parents exposed me to just about every musical opportunity that was offered in my community. Older friends suggested I try The Apple Hill music camp in Nelson, NH, which I did from 1974-1980. This was an all summer program at the time. I majored in Chamber Music and Coaching. I also learned how to play the viola from Robbie Merfeld.

I attended Hampshire College from 1980-1985, where I majored in Expressive Arts Therapy and minored in Ethnomusicology. I studied Jazz with Roland Wiggins at UMass and Hampshire, Electronic music with Randal McClellan and World Music with David Reck at Amherst College.

After graduating from Hampshire in January, 1985, I joined the Pioneer Valley Symphony Orchestra on Violin and later Viola; also the Valley Light Opera. I was hired by Maple Ridge in 1989 to play fiddle and mandolin with Joe Blumenthal (Downtown Sounds), John Rough and Terry Atkinson.

I began teaching private mandolin and fiddle lessons out of my apartment in Hatfield in 1993 and later at the Northampton Community Music Center and the Keene Institute of Music and Related Arts.

I performed at the World Music Festival at the Great Pyramids together. In the late 90s I was hired by Swift River Bluegrass to play mandolin with Claiborne Woodall (guitar) and John Rough (banjo).

I have earned a BA in Music from Hampshire College, coursework in Ethnomusicology, Expressive Arts Therapy, principal violist of the Five College Symphony Orchestra. And I have a certificate in violin and performance from the Conservatory at Rivers with coursework from the New England Conservatory of Music, Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra, CAMSA, and the Keene Chamber Orchestra. And I have a certificate in Chamber Music and Chamber Music.
