My name is Olivia and I am a young teacher recently certified with a Master's in Education. I understand the value of hard work and want to help students succeed. I love children and I am passionate about teaching. I have worked with many children at the elementary school level. In addition to being a tutor, I have been a substitute teacher for three years, I worked as a student teacher in a second grade classroom and I have taught Spanish. I feel that I connect well with children and that they are receptive to learning with me.
I specialize in assisting children from grades 1-5, but I could certainly offer my assistance to older students. I try to find a good challenge for my students - stimulating, but not more than they can handle. I know how frustrating it can be to not understand a subject, and I feel that when I work one-on-one with a student, I can help them break down that barrier.
I am flexible about working hours and can work around most schedules in the summer, but during the school year, I am only free on Monday and Tuesday evenings. I ask for a 24-cancellation notice, but am happy to reschedule.
I am happy to meet my students in their own homes, but if a neutral location is preferred, I can easily offer my services at a public library. I am happy to travel where I am needed.
I look forward to meeting your children and helping them succeed! My name is Olivia and I am a young teacher recently certified with a Master's in Education. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have worked with elementary school children for the past four years. I have been a substitute teacher in elementary schools for three years, and I spent a semester as a student teacher in a second grade classroom. I also took a two-year graduate program in elementary education and now have my master's degree.
I worked in a second grade classroom for a semester as a student teacher. During this time, one of the subjects with which I helped my students was handwriting. I worked with several students individually to help them improve their skills over a long period of time, after which, their handwriting was undeniably better than before.
I was a student teacher in a second grade classroom. One of the subjects I helped teach the students was phonics. The students had a class in phonics three times a week, during which I used phonics cards, consonant blends, vowel sounds, etc. to improve their understanding of the subject.
