In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been a piano teacher for 25 years. I have taught literally hundreds of children to play. I travel to people's homes to teach. I attended Berklee College of Music in the late 1980's and majored in songwriting and composition. I lived in Nashville, TN where I taught piano and wrote songs. I presently live in Gloucester, MA. I have a gift for keeping the student interested and engaged. The lessons are well thought out and focused on reading music. I always give a clearly written homework assignment each week, which includes music theory. I make it fun, and that is what makes me successful. References can be provided.
