Thank you for taking the time to explore my profile. I have been in education for about 14 years. I have my teaching license in English (5-12), Middle School Math, and Special Education, as well as my Master in Teaching degree from Regis College.

Currently I am a special education teacher at a high school. I work with students with moderate special needs. In my job, I spend my days tutoring/re-teaching students in English, Algebra I, Geometry, Biology, U.S. History, World History, as well as MCAS preparation. I have designed and implemented a study skills program through the Academic Support classes that I teach. In addition to teaching Academic Support classes, I have co-taught English, Algebra 1, US History, Health, Biology, and Chemistry.

At my previous school, a middle school, I was also a special education teacher. Part of my duties included teaching sixth grade English and seventh and eighth grade math skills. My role as a special educator included co-teaching English, Pre-Algebra, General Science, and World History.

In addition to teaching curriculum and study skills, as a special educator, I have written and implemented Individualized Education Programs. I understand the learning needs of students with a variety of learning related disabilities.

As student at Regis College, I was taught how to present material in different ways to help different types of learners gain access to the curriculum being taught. I have found it beneficial to my students to present or re-teach material through visuals, auditory materials , and hands-on or movement activities. Over the ten years I have been in education, I have collected and used a wide variety of teaching strategies and tools. It is my goal to make learning as engaging and fun as I can.

I am a creative, highly organized, outgoing, and easy to work with teacher. I have been praised for my teaching and tutoring performance by employers, colleagues, students, parents, and my own instructors. Excellent references can be provided upon request.

Knowledgeable Math Tutor

Lisa was well prepared for the first day and my 6th grader was very pleased with her teaching style. Besides teaching my son the math skills, she was reviewed some of the basic techniques that he can use in his tests and when ever he loses his focus during class. This is really going to help him in bringing his grade up.

Very accomodating

Sean enjoyed working with Lisa. She was able to work a pace that made him feel comfortable. He was so happy with how the session went. Sean said he was able to understand the material because she took the time explain it to him. He is looking forward to the next session!

Great Tutor!

Lisa is a great tutor, who is very knowledgeable and passionate about her profession. She tutored me in high school level math and prepared me to take the GED after being out of school for a while. I felt confident going into my exam, and passed! She was very supportive through out the process, and was very flexible with my busy schedule. I highly recommend Lisa as a tutor.

Thank you!

Hi Lisa, So I had to tell you, we left the other night, and my son said - "She's awesome!". Which by all accounts is phenomenal coming from an 11 year old. But what impressed me the most and meant the most to him, was he got a B on his math test the other day! That's 2 grades up from his last exams!!! Just thought I'd share that with you before tomorrow! Thanks Lisa for having it all make sense for him!

Very helpful for daughter with ADD!

My daughter is in 8th grade, very conscientious about her homework and grades, but struggling with ADD and the lack of organization that comes with it. She struggles especially with writing papers, particularly when asked to analyze something that, for example, they've read in class. All the stuff is up there in her head, but she has trouble getting it out in an organized way. Lisa has so far been able to teach her ways to help with that, given her some structure to work with, executive functioning. And so patient, and a sense of humor! We highly recommend Lisa!
