In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a native speaker of the English language. In high school, I always took honors-level English classes and passed with grades of 90% or better. Additionally, I completed the AP English exams with a passing grade, exonerating me from the need to take English language/grammar classes at the college level.
My education includes both a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree in French Language and Literature. I spent my junior year abroad in Grenoble, France, where I obtained full fluency in the language. I was previously a high school French teacher, where I taught students grammar, vocabulary, conversation and culture. I maintain my fluency by conversing in French with both friends and colleagues.
I've had substantial experience writing essays and dissertations at the high school, undergraduate and graduate levels, in both English and French. In high school, I took the English AP exam and received a passing grade, exonerating me from the requirement to take any Writing or English classes in college. My college coursework also included Translation classes between the French and English languages, strengthening my writing skills in French.
