About Patricia

Working with students with special needs is a great part of my teaching experience. I have worked with students from kindergarten to 3rd grade with both behavioral and learning disabilities. I work with a calm voice and can help a child achieve his/her goals with patience, as well as help to increase his/her self-confidence. Each student I have worked with has needed different types of instructional methods. I will work with their classroom teachers, if necessary, to assist your child in their studies, be it in mathematics or language arts. All students are important learners, and I hope that with both school and tutoring assistance, I can help your child reach his/her learning potential.

I am experienced in TouchMath, Response to Intervention (RTI), and utilize a largely hands-on approach to assist students in their learning. I have recently completed my Master's degree courses in Special Education (Moderate Disabilities, PreK-8) and will use my knowledge to help any student.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I have worked with students in varied levels of special needs. Students with ADD/ADHD, autism, Asperger's Syndrome, and other learning difficulties have been part of my teaching experiences in the school systems and in my practicum for my Master's degree. I am currently licensed in Massachusetts for Moderate Disabilities (PreK-8), as well as Early Childhood Education, with and without Disabilities (PreK-2).

Elementary (K-6th)

I have a master's degree and licensure in Special Education for grades PreK-8, and have worked with students of varied abilities following the Massachusetts Frameworks. The use of manipulatives, flash cards, and materials that benefit the student's needs are prepared for each student, and materials and lessons are differentiated to each student's needs, as well as materials to be referred to from the student's classroom experiences.

Very Patient. — I was very happy with her work. My daughter improved a great deal while she was tutoring. She was patient and gave my daughter many tools as well as studying techniques. I wish I could keep her longer but due to financial situation I was not able to continue her services. You will not regret doing business with her. ...
