I have been a math teacher for 8 years, at both the middle school (Pre-Algebra, Algebra) and high school (Algebra II, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, AP Calculus) levels. I have years of experience tutoring both content as well as preparation for standardized tests such as MCAS, SAT, GRE, and GMAT. I believe in holding high expectations for students, and then helping them to achieve those goals. One of my first priorities is to help students overcome any anxiety, and build up their confidence.
I received my undergraduate degree from RPI in Management/Finance, with minors in Economics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. This allows me to tie mathematics into a number of real world applications to help students relate to the content.
I received a Masters in Math Education from Lesley University and have taught courses ranging from Pre-Algebra to AP Calculus, which allows me to help you in your current course but also help prepare you for your future courses. In the past, my students have excelled on standardized testing, with growth percentiles well above the state averages.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I taught Algebra I honors level for 6 years. My students scored very well on MCAS tests and went on to great success in future math courses. I have also taught Pre-Algebra and Algebra II, so I understand the sequencing of each course.
I taught Algebra II Honors for 1 year. My students had great growth on MCAS tests and went on to great success in future math courses, including passing the AP Calculus exam. I have also taught Algebra I, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus, so I have a strong understanding of the sequencing of each course and what to focus on.
I am currently in my 3rd year teaching AP Calculus, and have increased my school's scores significantly over that time. I have taught Pre-Calculus as well, so I am aware of the sequencing and the content that is currently required for the AP exam. I have reviewed AP exams from the past 10 years, so I am aware of patterns and types of questions that are most likely to be asked.
I am currently in my third year teaching Pre-Calculus, both at the Honors and College Prep levels. I have taught Algebra II and currently teach AP and CP Calculus, so I know the sequencing of each course. My knowledge in this subject would assist you in getting through your last year of math or preparing you for future courses, including AP Calculus.
I have led SAT study groups with my students for a number of years, and work with them to pinpoint the areas that they are struggling in (most often geometry based questions). This enables us to work together to improve skill in that area, along with working on test taking skills. Other areas of review include strategies to each type of question along with a mathematical approach to deciding when to leave a question blank.
I currently teach Statistics, so I am aware of the content involved. I have also taken multiple college level courses in the area, so I have a deeper understanding of the content. Statistics is one of the most interesting math topics, and I would seek to tie-in a lot of real-world applications.
