My name is Michelle and the mother of 2 elementary age children. I have been tutoring students in small groups and one on one sessions for the past three years. I am currently employed as a public school reading interventionist. I find the work I do to be very rewarding. It is always exciting to see students making progress and building their confidence on the road to becoming proficient independent readers. Another reason I enjoy working in this type of setting is that because it allows me to get to know my students on a more personal level. Creating a learning environment where students feel comfortable is important to me.
I am licensed to teach in grades Kindergarten to grade 3 for students with or without disabilities. I am currently working towards getting an additional license in the area of English as a Second Language (ESL). In the small group setting I work with students on decoding, comprehension and improving their fluency while reading.
I look forward to continuing to tutor students in the area of reading and fostering their love of reading. Feel free to contact me with any questions. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
