About Stephanie

I believe that the more confident and prepared you feel, the better you do. This takes some practice, studying and a little bit of coaching. Everyone has the ability to learn, they just need the tools that work best for them. I will work with each student to find their best learning method and guide them into mastering the subject at hand.

I have real-world and student experience with most computer programs. I grew up using them in school and have adapted them to my professional careers. I believe that you need to learn the basics and understand the programs so that you can then adapt this knowledge to any project.

You aren't going to know every option in Word or Excel but if you know what category it might fall into, it gives you a place to start. Sometimes there is trial and error needed to find what you are looking for, from a specific style to a certain graph but I think that having to mess around in those areas only enhances you knowledge of the program.

I am very passionate about the Business field and really feel that everyone benefits from understanding the basics. We all need to make money, pay bills and make purchases. I love finding little secrets that make these all easier and learned so much about living better through my Business Degree.

I have a Bachelor's in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and a minor in Economics. I never thought I would enter into this field but at a suggestion from another college student, I took an accounting class and was immediately hooked. How could a student who had never made that much money or paid more than a handful of bills know that they would be good at accounting? I'm grateful that my school had us take classes in many different fields because you just don't know what you have never tried before.

I have unofficially tutored at home as well as in high school and college. I helped my two younger siblings, one with a learning disability, create flash cards, study tools and walk through their more difficult subjects. In high school and college I spent a lot of time editing papers for fellow classmates and breaking down lesson plans into more manageable pieces. Together we created binders full of review materials that highlighted difficult subjects and summarized topics for exams.

As a tutor I will help you create these materials, tailored to your learning strengths and weaknesses, to actively prepare for you. I can create mock tests of material to better gauge your understanding and find study tools to take home and practice with after. From low tech options like flash cards to online education games, I will help you find a way to make this an enjoyable experience as well as educational. No one has the same skills and strengths, which makes us all unique and interesting. There is always a different angle to approach a subject from for better understanding. Some work better than others depending on the person and that is where I come in.

I'm very approachable and patient. I understand having to ask the same question more than once because the previous answer just didn't click. I believe it is all about finding your method of learning and mastering it. I have had success tutoring different subjects, age groups and learning styles. If you are willing to learn, I am here to be that extra teaching tool.

Together we can build your confidence in the subject and embrace different methods of learning. There is no reason for you to struggle with the amount of resources available to you. Anyone can learn, they just need a plan.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Business

I have a Bachelors in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and a minor in Economics. I have traveled to China with a Global Business course and worked professionally in my field for 5 years. I have moved up 3 times in those 5 years, the first a non-profit and the rest with global businesses.

Microsoft Outlook

I currently use Outlook daily for sending and receiving mail, scheduling meetings and keeping a calendar. I have taught myself how to set reminders, schedule rooms and store emails. I have become the person in the office that others come to for assistance with their Outlook.
