With over 10 years experience tutoring and teaching, I am ready to help you/your child learn without any pain or trouble! I find learning fun and I like to transmit that to my students by making things as interactive as possible. I have experience in almost all age ranges since I spent two years teaching English in a K-12 school in Spain where I also taught an after school English class to the other teachers as well. Living in Spain for two years, I became fluent in Spanish and would happy to help new language learners improve their español.
However, most of my experience has been in SCIENCE! I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Biology, in top 10% of my medical school class and have several scientific publications. I have taken a large range of classes in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Social Sciences, and of course all the classes that come along with medical school. During high school, college, and medical school, I worked as a tutor in all areas of science for high school and college students. Plus, now that I am a medical resident , I continue to actively use the basic sciences (and often Spanish) in my daily life.
However, I will be honest that being a medical resident does make my availability shift often and my students do need a certain level of flexible scheduling, however, unless I'm working nights I'm usually free for classes in the evening and at least 1 day of the weekend. Jessica is a committed tutor. She is well prepared before coming to the tutoring session. Jessica is still teaching my daughter and we decided to continue with her.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
During undergraduate I was a Biology major at Tufts University and took and excelled in Genetics. I was elected to be a peer tutor for the class at my university. I am currently a medical student at Tufts School of Medicine and have taken extensive genetics coursework as well as it is integrated into my daily use as I start my career as a future physician.
