About Nate

My knowledge has earned undergraduate admission at Princeton, Yale, Dartmouth, University of Chicago, Williams, Amherst, Swarthmore, Pomona, Carlton, Wesleyan, and Reed in the 2009-2010 admission cycle. I know how to create a competitive profile.

If you want to complete the common application correctly while avoiding frustration and mistakes, I know it inside out and I will ensure that by the end of the process you do too. I'll walk you through question by question with attention to the utmost detail.

Furthermore, you can study a college application which was sensationally successful. Use it to craft your own, and get insight into getting in. What does it take to vie with thousands for a coveted spot? What should the first sentence in your personal essay be? How do you distill the excellence of your existence on to the common application? I will help you get the insight and the edge.

I'm a deep resource for all things college. Everything from making the best of high school, standardized testing, forming a college list, and the application itself, I have you covered. See what makes a superb college application from start to finish. I am chock-full of advice and understanding of the current college admissions process.

My services are available as complete packages with set fees or by the hour. If you have special requests or interests, I am happy to negotiate a custom package for you.

I have worked as an independent college counselor helping students apply for colleges since 2010. I have tutored in academic subjects and SAT tests since 2008.

I also have extensive experience helping international, multi/bicultural, multi/bilingual students, and students whose primary language is not English (ESL) apply to universities around the world. I worked on GAKKO Project for two years, which is an international start-up based in New Haven, CT and Tokyo, Japan that aims to improve education globally by reworking traditional approaches to teaching and learning. As a board member and project director, I was in charge of developing an innovative curriculum integrating fresh approaches to pedagogy for high school students. We had students who came from all over Asia to attend our workshops and camps.

Finally, as a recent graduate of Yale University, I can offer useful insights into campus culture, available resources, and guide applications based on my understanding of the Yale admissions committee's values.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

College Counseling

I've always loved teaching and working with students. I had been tutoring for years and after achieving exceptional success with my own college application process, a few of my students asked me if I would help them apply to colleges as well. I realized I had a talent helping high school students think about how to write and present themselves in the most compelling manner possible.
