I can’t say that I was feeling hopeful or enthusiastic when I first contacted Greg at the beginning of last semester. It had been almost ten years since I had last taken a “numbers” course, and now that I had gone back to school, I was afraid I might not even pass my Quantitative Methods and Finance grad courses.
Upon meeting Greg, I immediately noticed his passion for teaching. In just a few minutes, he quickly managed to identify my strengths and concentrated on them, instead of focusing on my weaknesses and all that I didn’t know. Over the course of a few months, Greg patiently helped me build mastery and confidence. In the process of learning SPSS, he encouraged me to work with data that was meaningful to me, which helped me become more interested in mastering the skills that I needed to learn. The fact that he has a deep understanding of both statistics and finance made a world of difference as I was guided by someone who has an immense amount of knowledge and experience.
Undoubtedly, he is committed to teaching and has a genuine interest for his students. I remember days where he would not hesitate to stay an hour or two longer if I needed more help.
Words cannot express my appreciation to Greg, not only for teaching me in a way I could understand, but also for having a genuine interest in my goals and professional development. I’m happy to report that I just got my grades and I got A+ in both courses! But what is most amazing is that now that the semester is over, I ended up buying more statistics books not because I have to read them but because I actually want to learn more!
I would highly recommend Greg unhesitatingly to anyone who needs help with Statistics and Finance but perhaps even more, to those students who like me, truly need a kind and committed tutor to help them reach their true potential.
Although I began meeting Greg well later then I should've (I was in a deep hole with my summer statistics class), he really helped me learn during my short time working with him. Greg was incredibly patient and knowledgable and explained concepts well - it was a huge difference compared to the textbook and websites I was using previously. Greg even took the initiative to buy the textbook I was using in order to do the homework problems I was assigned simultaneously. To me, this really spoke volumes to how much Greg wanted me to succeed. Scheduling with Greg was easy as well. Beginning in the fall when I begin my accounting class, I plan on scheduling some Skype sessions with Greg so I can succeed in that class.
We spent 2 hours on finance and I already understand it more clearly! Definitely making my next appointment with Greg very soon! He makes sure you understand what you work on before moving on to the next problem.. very important and helpful!
Greg was patient and took the time to understand my background to relate his teaching to something I would understand easier. He was prepared coming into the session with what I wanted to cover in the session.
Very professional, knowledgeable and patient. Really great at explaining concepts in different ways/ finds a way of explaining concepts that makes sense for the student. Good at coming up with real life examples to help bring abstract concepts to life. Highly recommend Greg!
Greg edited my Accounting case paper, which is a very tough case. But Greg explained and analyzed it in a clear manner. I really appreciate his help and respect his professional knowledge in Accounting/English Writing area.
I really appreciated his assistance with my learning to use Excel. He did the problems himself, as did I , so it was a nice way to feel more assured about my answers and the entry into Excel.
Greg was very prepared, patient, and helpful. He showed up to our meeting already having worked through my practice problems and was clear and concise when explaining answers to me.
I was taking the three week accelerated Accounting class at the Harvard Extension School. This class is very fast paced and without any support in the class. So you can imagine that covering a semesters worth of material and absorbing it within three weeks is quite the challenge. I found Greg and he proved to be invaluable. Having someone sit with me and work through the material and explain the concepts that went to quickly in class really helped. Sometimes it was just having him there so that I could solve it while he showed me if I was on the right path and sometimes he really had to explain the concepts from scratch. He brought his own materials to aid in the process where my text was confusing.
Overall I would recommend Greg for lessons if you are having difficulty with the material. He really helped me to gain confidence in the course and material and I ended up with an A.
Greg is an amazing, knowledgeable tutor, I worked with him several times for tutoring and for job interview preparation. Greg is very patient and hardworking, he is willing to listen to all your questions and answer them with a perfect explanation and illustration for support. Even when Greg is very busy, he can still take your work and questions in consideration. Many times I contacted him with an ad-hoc project and he was ready for help with excellent result for me. HE WILL MAKE YOU A STAR STUDENT!!
Dear All Students,
Greg is the best tutor I have worked with. He helped me get through two very difficult classes in my MBA program. I am not a numbers person and the thought of numbers intimidates me, never mind a graduate level statistics and accounting class! Greg calmed me down, helped me breakdown the material and I did very well in both classes! He made me feel comfortable and calm and instilled confidence in me, I know that without him I would have had difficulty passing the class.
Greg not only was wonderful when we met for our one on one sessions, but he also was quickly responding, always prepared with the material we needed to work on. We spoke on the phone, emailed, met in person, everything I needed Greg provided, so I could not be happier. He truly cared about my results and success in the class.
I already know that I will be coming back to Greg when I have my upcoming finance classes, so Greg get ready for my call in August!
I cannot thank you enough for all the work you've done to make me a successful student Greg! I would definitely recommend Greg to anyone who needs help, in any topic, I know he could figure it out to help anyone! I would be happy to discuss in more detail why Greg should be your next tutor, so feel free to contact me.
Not only did he help me work through uneven cash flows but his professional background in corporate America helped me analyze financial statements which comes in handy for not only your finance class but accounting as well. Thanks Greg!
Greg is not your typical tutor; he is someone that exceeded my expectations. He spent time before my session preparing for the task at hand and came prepared with focused lesson plans. During the session he combined a nice mix of knowledge transfer with hands-on exercises to ensure that I was comfortable and confident with the content. As an extremely busy business professional, I appreciated the fact that he made himself available according to my schedule and my unique needs.
Although I utilized Greg for MBA level statistics, he is an expert in many areas and I plan to use him for subsequent subjects. Since I have never tackled stats previously, I found that he made the process as painless as possible by creating an atmosphere of encouragement and support. I felt free to ask questions and gain additional clarification if necessary. I can say confidently, if it wasn't for Greg, I don't know if I would have survived statistics!
I found Greg through Wyzant. He had high ratings. I met with him for the first time and am very pleased with our learning experience. The topic of Financial Accounting is not always fun but Greg's common sense approach is perfect and keeps me engaged.
He is definitely one of the best tutors I've had. Greg is an excellent, outstanding tutor. He is very hardworking, always gives his full time and effort into helping his students even if there are extreme time constraints. He is knowledgeable in nearly all aspects of business: May it be a exam preparation, Excel, case paper, Powerpoint presentation or simply business advice, and always has fresh perspectives into any topic given to him. My grade has jumped from B to A since I tutored with him. He keeps the tutoring atmosphere light and fun and also very understanding with budgets that a lot of students have, and is willing to work around with that, which I very much appreciate.
I contacted Greg to help my girlfriend out with stats and he has been of tremendous help! With only a few sessions under her belt, she has literally done a 360 and is now ready to take on exams!!!
My lesson was over the phone due to time constraints but the knowledge of the tutor brought focus to my questions and identified the confusion source. After the session was over he sent me complimentary excel sheet with the interpretations we talked about and it was well prepared and thoughtful.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As a serial entrepreneur and small business consultant, I believe that I am very well qualified to help students in general business studies. For example, I took over a bankrupt gym, turned-around the business, and sold it for a handsome gain after three years. I founded and sold two gourmet shops and a restaurant along the Maine seacoast, and I now consult to small businesses as a part-time CFO (I recently helped a start-up biotech consulting firm secure a $300K line of credit). In addition, I perform due-diligence investigations of potential investments for high net worth families.
My English instruction methods build upon the student's current level of proficiency and rapidly build vocabulary while constructing a solid grammatical foundation that supports improved comprehension, reading, writing, and speaking. The student acquires confidence and ease with the language as his/her facility increases.
Many American students of the Romance languages find their studies difficult because they were never taught proper English grammar. Concepts such as object pronouns and the subjunctive (congiuntivo in Italian) are, well, foreign to them, and I am sensitive to these issues.
My method combines reading, speaking, listening and rapid vocabulary development to build comfort and facility in La Piu Bella Lingua. My background in Medieval and Renaissance Studies provides further historical context and perspective.
As an Advanced Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, Greg helps businesses set-up and maintain efficient accounting systems that are tailored for the specific business requirements. He has designed QuickBooks Online applications for clients in the consulting, manufacturing, and retail industries, with specific, close attention to defining appropriate Charts of Accounts that deliver meaningful financial reports while minimizing tax compliance and preparation costs.
During my tenure as a Director of Business Analytics and a Senior Analyst, I applied a great variety of statistical methods and techniques to analyze and improve operational effectiveness, describe and model time series behaviors for predictive capabilities, identify service gaps and strategic opportunities, streamline processes and procedures, and statistically map customer interaction pathways and nodes to develop robust engagement campaigns.
In addition, I trained associates on statistical analysis and I introduced many statistical approaches to solving business issues while advocating fact-based, rational decision making.
