I am an education and innovation futurist and entrepreneur. I work at various levels of education to ensure that public and private institutions provide the lessons and learning opportunities students need to prepare for tomorrow's careers. I write, speak and design new initiatives that deliver on my vision and my passion. While I love this larger work, my greater passion is still and always teaching. I work part time as a coach and tutor to eager students.
I was recruited by the founder of an award-winning school to design and teach a set of classes to teenagers that would prepare them for the real world. I taught for six years and would have stayed forever if my expertise weren't needed and sought after by many more school leaders. While I now work as a consultant to schools, superintendents, universities and teachers, I maintain a portion of my schedule for tutoring, which allows me to stay close to the root of education: the teaching and learning that happens one on one!
I love guiding you through finding your own gifts, dreams and passions. I designed award-winning curriculum at the high school level to teach young people entrepreneurship, career exploration and the myriad skills needed for success in the real world. I have taught innovation, presentation skills, business plan writing, financial planning, resumes, interviewing, networking, negotiating the workplace, obtaining key internships and much more. A former Harvard associate business school dean said my 11th grade students' business plans and pitches were on par with his first year students! The Boston Business Journal awarded my work as well.
Tutoring and coaching are the most rewarding teaching opportunities because I can focus my plan completely on you and your unique needs, plans and dreams. Shall we work together to help you achieve your dreams?
I give presentations and keynote addresses at various conferences, forums and events.
I designed an award-winning career development curriculum that garnered press coverage for multiple years.
I designed and taught an award-winning business and entrepreneurship curriculum that caught the attention of CNN who brought me live on air to talk about the importance of teaching entrepreneurship and business skills to all students.
You are competing, just like all students and adults, for your place in the world. I encourage you to contact me about your own customized coaching and tutoring that can help you develop the skills and confidence to sell your unique gifts to the world and achieve the dreams you have for yourself. Don't know what your dreams are yet? Let me help you figure them out. I've helped hundreds of others do the same! I am an education and innovation futurist and entrepreneur. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I work in the innovation and entrepreneurship sector and have owned my own consulting business for four years. I have worked in the education sector since 2000, first traveling the country to build chapters of a nonprofit and was then hired to open the first Boston office. After 6 years building nonprofits, I was recruited by an award-winning high school to develop a business, entrepreneurship and career development curriculum. I taught hundreds of students over 6 years how to turn their ideas into businesses, write business plans and publicly pitch their ideas for support. A Harvard business school professor said that my students consistently produced ideas and business plans on par with his first-year students. The secret? It all starts with passion!
As an innovator in the education sector, I have developed and taught an award-winning curriculum to help students discover their passion, explore and plan for fulfilling careers. I have coached and guided hundreds of young people both in and out of the classroom on developing their career paths. This work is best done one-on-one so I continue to coach teens and young adults (and even a few 30-somethings!) on how to develop careers that excite and fulfill them. There is no cookie cutter approach in coaching or teaching career development - how could there be when it is all born from what makes you unique? I write extensively on this topic and have articles published.
I speak, lead workshops and have worked with hundreds of people to help them develop their voice and find confidence in public speaking. I have delivered keynotes, fireside discussions on stage, Ignite talks (unfamiliar? They're cool! Look it up!), interactive workshops, and business pitches. I have also worked as a teacher for the past 10 years (6 years as a full time high school business and career teacher, 4 years in various other capacities) and any teacher will tell you that teaching is performing! All of this has one thing in common: the ability to stand, with confidence, in front of a room (or ballroom) of people who may or may not be interested in what you have to say, and speak. The goal, of course, is for your audience to leave more educated/informed/moved/curious, and that requires a secret sauce unique to each speaker. Want to figure out what your secret sauce is? Let's talk.
