I've been tutoring math to high-school and middle-school students in the Canton, Dedham, Sharon, Norwood and Stoughton area for ten years. I've tutored nearly all the students I've worked with for many years, and I've also frequently tutored their brothers and sisters - also for many years. I enjoy helping my students to understand and realize that they can not only do the work - they can do it well and they can understand what they're doing. My references will gladly provide details about their own experiences.
I have a master's degree in computer engineering and run my own data analysis company. Before starting that company, I developed software for large and small companies and was most recently the IT director at a large accounting firm. In the accounting firm I not only solved some long-standing real-world math problems (one had gone unanswered for over twenty years) but also taught the accountants the ins-and-outs of PowerPoint, Excel and Word. I enjoy teaching wherever I am and especially enjoy working one on one with students of all ages. Even without the designated text book, Steve was able to pick up from what my son showed him as an example of the topic they were discussing at school. I tutored my son in math the first six grades. However listening to Steve teach his first lesson, I come to realize that I definitely made the right decision in choosing him for my son.
He made it look so simple that my son can't wait for the next lesson. I am looking forward to it, too.
My daughter has had three sessions with Steve. It is exactly what she needed. He very successfully provided her with the understanding of the physics basics that she needed so that she can more confidently approach her honors problems. They will start to tackle the pre-calculus soon. I am so glad that we found him.
I have not had any math since 1963. I am an SCE student at Providence College. I am so fortunate to have found Steven. He is a wonderful teacher and tutor.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
