About Jack

Bio

I'm eager to work with learners of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. I've worked with academic coaches myself as a student, and I know how much of a difference it can make first-hand! I also worked in psychology research for 7+ years and co-led a Research Seminar in Nonverbal Behavior, Social Perception, and Psychophysiology at Harvard Business School for three years. In 2020, I earned my master's degree in learning and development from Harvard's Graduate School of Education.

I'm passionate about personalized learning and universal design for learning, with formal training in both, with additional expertise in human development, disability and accessibility, self-determination theory, and psychological research methods. As a teaching fellow for an executive public speaking class at Harvard, I saw how students would often deeply benefit from coaching outside of class.

If you're curious about my experience in student support, the feedback I received from my teaching fellow positions at Harvard University included scores of 5/5 for clear, well-structured presentations and 5/5 for availability to connect outside of class. Student feedback included statements such as "He gives the impression he is where we have been and has benefitted. He is earnest dedicated and gave useful suggestions on topic and plans." and "Jack is always available when we needed him. He's engaging and very helpful." and "He's a really nice guy and offers the best learning support I've gotten in a long time." and "Jack's very approachable and understanding of student needs." and "Jack is FANTASTIC."

Best wishes for you in your learning journey! Please reach out if you're interested in working together.

Public Speaking

I was a teaching fellow for a transformative executive public speaking class at Harvard for several years. I worked closely with students of all ages and backgrounds. Some students were professors at Harvard while others were founding CEOs. I got to see how students could deeply benefit from coaching outside of class. Later, while doing research on "best-self activation" at the Harvard Business School for Professor Amy Cuddy, I found that that there were many connections between authenticity research and the principles of communication for inspiring and persuading an audience that I learned and taught as a teaching fellow. I went on to study "developmental interactions" to better understand the nature of what drives moments of meaningful connection and transformation.
