About Jad

Hello, I'm Jad! I'm a sophomore at MIT majoring in Aerospace Engineering, with the intention of also double majoring in Physics. I've been tutoring my friends and classmates since middle school. I have experience with one-on-one tutoring as well as larger groups. My school had this program that allowed students to be "shadow teachers". I took part in that for many years, and what that meant is that I would prepare a lesson and then teach it to the class instead of the teacher. I was also part of an On-Demand Tutoring program at school, where I recorded video tutorials for certain math concepts and then posted them online for other students to watch. I also taught an Arabic class over the month of IAP at MIT.

I really love tutoring because I enjoy helping people learn something. I like finding the right way to convey ideas to someone, by using their own framework to make the concepts comprehensible. I am a very patient and determined tutor/teacher. I'm willing to work with someone at their own comfortable pace, and I like to ask questions to make sure the material is being well-understood. I'm also a good listener, which helps me identify any misunderstandings of the material in order to clarify them.

I love Chemistry and Physics, and I've always scored highly on related exams. I've taken AP Chemistry and AP Physics C: Mechanics and Electricity & Magnetism, and I've scored 5 on all. I've also taken an advanced version of E&M, as well as a Vibrations and Waves physics class at MIT.

Arabic is my native language, and I've been speaking it ever since I started speaking. I used to tutor some classmates at school, and I taught an Arabic class for a month at MIT.

I've danced Salsa for about 2 years, and I love it! I really enjoy teaching other people how to dance!

I'm on the MIT Ballroom Dance Team. I've competed in several competitions and placed in many of them. Ballroom dancing is a major part of my life, and I would be very happy to share what I know with others.

I'm excited to help students learn and share what I know! If you have any questions, feel free to text me, and I'll be happy to answer. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Arabic

I've been speaking Arabic ever since I learned how to speak! I've studied Arabic for about 12 years (throughout all of school), and I've always done great! I used to tutor my friends and classmates in school, especially for grammar. I recently taught an Introductory Arabic class at MIT over the month of IAP.

Ballroom Dancing

I've spent around 2 years learning social ballroom dancing, but then I switched to the professional side, and now I'm on the MIT Ballroom Dance Team. This is my second year, and I'm a Bronze level dancer. My partner and I have placed in many competitions.

I've taken both AP Calculus AB and BC, and I've scored a 5/5 on both. I've also taken 18.02 which is the Multivariable Calculus class at MIT, and I got an A+ on that class.

Chemistry

I took AP Chemistry and scored 5/5.

Differential Equations

I've taken 18.03 which is the Differential Equations class at MIT. I had an A+ for that class. I have some experience tutoring my friends and classmates for this material!
