I offer my services as a Chinese (Mandarin) language tutor. I am a native Chinese (Mandarin) speaker with an extensive background in academics and in particular the social sciences (anthropology, history, and Asian studies). I have done a lot of work and research in both China and the United States. I love learning languages and cultures, as well as helping people.

Working as a language tutor started at Georgetown University in 2015. I mainly served as a graduate recitation teaching assistant for Third Level Chinese language study for a class of 32 undergraduate students for one year. After I graduated, I worked at Inlingua Washington D.C. for a short period. Later, I was a Ph.D. student majoring in 19th-20th Chinese history and Asian Studies before I left the program. I transformed my Ph.D. experience into my first e-book, Divergent Paths: The Self Evolution of A Ph.D. Dropout (Chinese Edition), published in 2021. Meanwhile, during the past years, I have been tutoring various students ages from 6 to 73. I enjoy getting to know my students and helping solving their problems both in studies and lives as well as providing my understanding of being and knowing.

What really makes my service stands out is my uniqueness. I have a passion for being a tutor, companying and helping people with difficulties. Learning English and studying abroad have opened a new world for me and it would do the same for you. I will be there to help you along the way during our tutoring sessions. We will explore more about China and get to know “Chineseness.” Effective communication will make the world a better place, and welcome aboard!

I studied swimming with a tutor who was a Turkmenistan swimming athlete joining the Olympics Games twice. I have been swimming for almost five years and I mastered three swimming styles: breaststroke, freestyle, and backstroke. I guided several my friends before, and I'd like to share my swimming skills with people who interested.

Kind, friendly and good with kids

She was able to help my daughter with her mandarin speaking skills. My daughter liked the lesson and would take another lesson with Yi in the future. She would like to improve and speak mandarin fluently.
