Jherrard is an 18 year old conductor, composer, violinist, and guitarist from the Detroit Metropolitan area. Jherrard has performed as Concertmaster of both the Dearborn Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Groves High School Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed as a 1st Violinist in the Detroit Symphony’s Civic Youth Orchestra and the Grosse Pointe Symphony Orchestra.
His musical studies began at the age of 7 as a guitar student of Lamar Phillips through City Camp at Gesu Catholic School in Detroit. He continued instruction with accomplished guitarists, David Burton, Jr. and Peter Ayala. At the age of 8 he began his violin studies at Charles H. Wright Academy of Arts and Science in Detroit.
Jherrard continues to study violin under the tutelage of master violinist Gregory Staples of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. He enhanced his musical talents by studying music composition and theory as a student of Prof. Malcolm Peyton at the New England Conservatory of Music and Chad Hughes, Interim Director of Bands at Morehouse College. Jherrard studies conducting under Tim Cibor who serves as Artistic Director at Dearborn Youth Symphony. During the summer of 2013 Jherrard studied composition under Dr. N. Lincoln Hanks at Interlochen Arts Camp as well as Dr. Rob Deemer, Dr. Robert Brownlow and Jonathan Newman. That summer, he was also awarded the Fine Arts award in Music Composition.
He has played violin and conducted his compositions at prestigious summer festivals such as Interlochen and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp as well as numerous times at the Classical Revolution Detroit jam sessions organized by Rick Robinson (formerly a bassist of 20 years with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra). In the summer of 2012, Jherrard was privileged to sit Concertmaster at Interlochen Center for The Arts. That summer Jherrard was honored to have one of his compositions read and recorded by the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp Masterworks Orchestra under the direction of Maestro William (Tony) Porter.
Jherrard is a chamber music enthusiast who formed his own professional string chamber ensemble, Integrated Strings Perfection, during his freshman year of high school. The group has proven to be in high demand around the Oakland County area. He has lead the group to six consecutive Division 1 rankings at district and state level festivals. ISP is 1 of dozens of groups he has put together.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I'm currently an undergraduate student in music composition. I was admitted into 3 of the leading conservatories in the United States on the merits of my work. I have had experience teaching composition and conducting through my church.
I have taught ear training study groups in college. Two of my students went on to develop perfect pitch. I am currently taking intensive ear training courses at a prestigious music conservatory.
I have assisted in teaching general music in Detroit Public Schools. I have had 4 years of musical experience. I have also taught music theory to people of all ages.
I have played violin in over 100 different ensembles within the last 5 years. I have been in principal positions in youth and community orchestras as well as at Interlochen Center for the Arts in 2012. I have been teaching violin for 4 years.
