Hi! My name is Alie, and I am currently a 2nd Grade teacher in Lawrence, MA. This was my first year of full-time teaching, but the previous year I worked as a full-time tutor and student teacher for 1st and 2nd grade at a Boston charter school. I have a lot of experience teaching both math and ELA/reading.
I love seeing student growth, whether over the course of a school year or one lesson block. The most important thing is seeing progress, no matter what level academic level of the student is! My favorite thing is seeing kids get excited about and taking ownership over their own learning!
This year my class scored 90% Proficient or Advanced on our school networks benchmark assessments over the course of the entire year. I am also a math planning lead on the 2nd grade team.
I have worked with students of all reading levels at the elementary age, from students with severe learning challenges to students years above grade level. Every student I worked with this year made at least one level of growth, no matter where they began the year.
I have worked with CCSS-aligned curriculum in both ELA and in math, with most extensive experience being with Common Core math standards for 1st-4th grade.
I am a grades 1-6 Massachusetts state certified elementary teacher with an Sheltered English Instruction endorsement and Fall 2016 expected Master's in Effective Teaching.
I have worked with several students at different points on the autism spectrum, as a one-on-one tutor, small group tutor, and classroom teacher. I have absolutely loved working with each one of them!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
