Clarity and expression come to us in different forms and are meant to be used to interpret all the many sources of inspiration which surround us, from the benign and painful to the sublime and beautiful. Teaching my students to tap into their personal creativity and inventive methods will enable them to utilize their instrumental techniques in a way which is invigorating and communicative. With this, I hope to foster lifelong musicians who can use their inventiveness to surmount any and all of life's many challenges.

Some of my personal accolades include being a finalist in the Moshe Paranov Concerto competition, a semi-finalist in the VanRooy Competition for Musical Excellence, and receiving an honorable mention in the Mannes College of Music Concerto competition. I received my Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Hartford, and my Master of Music degree from Mannes College the New School for Music. Some of my most notable performances as a classical musician include playing principal trombone with the Richmond County Orchestra, the Pittsburgh Concert Chorale Orchestra, the Chelsea Symphony, the Orchestra of Calvary-St. George's, the Riverside Opera Company, the New York Festival Orchestra -- culminating in a performance of Beethoven's 9th symphony at the U.S.A.-Japan Goodwill concert at Carnegie Hall in December of 2013 -- and in the MAFAA Opera Orchestra at the Kennedy Center debut of Felipe de Leon's opera "Noli Me Tangere". Not limiting myself to the concert halls and stages for classical music, my career as a trombonist also includes performances with Amanda Palmer and the Grand Theft Orchestra (rock/alternative), The Hot Shim Sham Orchestra (swing), the Hungry March Band (brass/alternative), La Nueva Crema (salsa), Mr. No-Shame (Latin rock), and others. My career as a music educator has lead me to giving music instruction in all boroughs of New York City, Long Island, New Jersey, and Connecticut, and I continue to enjoy teaching on the faculty at numerous private music schools and public eleme

Composition (Music)

Composition (Music)

While in school, I earned top marks all of my counterpoint and musicianship classes. As a career musician, I have arranged and composed countless horn section parts for the many groups I've played in, and my personal catalog of compositions grows with each passing year. I also posses a high level of musical literacy. I received my Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Hartford, and my Master of Music degree from Mannes College the New School for Music.

Writing

I am a voracious reader. My success as a writing coach for my friends and colleagues stems from my reading habit, as reading good writing is the first step to writing good material of your own. I've written everything on my profile here on WyzAnt, so give my profile a look to see what kind of writing I use professionally.

History

Music History,

Music History

My interest in music history is one of the subjects that seems to impress my peers; while their interest waned after graduating from school, mine continued to grow as indicated by the scholarly texts and source materials that would accompany me to my many jobs and gigs. My instructional materials range from little vignettes of notable musicians to complete publications on the scope of Western music history, including but not limited to Bonds and Norton. I have my Master of Music degree from Mannes College the New School for Music.

Ear Training,

Ear Training

My ear training was complete after learning how to sight-sing and solfege in both "fixed do" and "movable do" methods. My teaching methods and tools for ear training can be utilized by students of all ages. My library of educational materials includes Michiko Yurko's "Music Mind-Games" for young students, and Maurice Lieberman's "Ear Training and Sight Singing" for the most advanced college-level students.
General Music,

General Music

I received my Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Hartford, and my Master of Music degree from Mannes College the New School for Music. Establishing a foundation for music appreciation is paramount for the enlightenment of any person. Creating lessons for students who are likely to understand the general ideas of rhythm and pitch is part of my job as a teacher in diverse populations. Using many of the same materials and approaches utilized in the Suzuki, Orff, and Kodaly methods, I aim to reach even the most tone-deaf of students.

Trombone

I have been a trombonist since 1993. I have been teaching students young and old for 13 years. I earned my degrees from The University of Hartford and from The New School as a trombone major. I have performed and given seminars in United States, Canada, and Italy. My career continues to grow and I cannot see myself doing anything unrelated to music as a part of it.
