I am an MIT graduate (Bachelor's, Master's) and researcher with a passion for education. As a student at MIT, I had the privilege of being taught by extremely dedicated and effective instructors. My favorite teachers were often those who adapted their course content and style to suit the specific skills interests, and needs of their students each semester. My teaching style stems from that principle: I am a flexible and adaptive tutor. I am strongly aware that different people learn differently, and an effective tutor is someone who is able to adjust their style to help students achieve their goals.

As a student and a researcher, I have held various teaching positions. As an undergraduate, I taught the SAT Math and Writing curriculum to high school students from the Greater Boston Area. Each teaching program lasted 3-4 months, and resulted in an increase of an average of 200 points in students' overall SAT scores. As a graduate student and researcher, I have served as a teaching assistant to several undergraduate courses at MIT. This has included: creating curricula, developing course material, preparing and giving lectures, and grading assignments. I have also taught math and science to high school and undergraduate students outside the United States, so I am familiar with academic backgrounds and curricula from different parts of the world.

I specialize in teaching Math (pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, calculus), SAT Math and Writing, ACT Math, GRE Math and Writing, ESL/ESOL, IELTS, TOEFL, and the Arabic language. Additionally I have strong skills in Spanish and German languages, which can be of particular help when working with ESL/ESOL students.

I am flexible with my time, and I don't mind traveling to meet students as long as the location is accessible by public transportation. I prefer to work in quiet and comfortable locations for the student, such as public libraries, university classrooms, or coffee shops, and do require a 24-hour cancellation notice.

I look forward to connecting with students in the Boston area, and I will reply to any inquiries within a few hours!

IELTS

I have experience studying for and preparing students for the IELTS test. Effective communication in the English language was a key component in my undergraduate and graduate education, and I am eager to help other students improve their reading, writing, and comprehension skills in preparation for the IELTS.
Writing,

Writing

My experience in writing is deeply rooted in my education at MIT. As a student of architecture and urban planning, my curriculum was extremely writing-intensive, be it technical writing, research proposals and grants, or creative and descriptive writing. The culmination of my education resulted in the reproduction or two theses (for bachelor's and master's degrees), one of which was awarded the Best Thesis Award at my academic department at MIT. As a result, I am quite confident in my writing, editing, and proof reading skills, and can offer constructive advice to students on how to approach different writing topics, and more importantly, how to edit their work successfully into a final draft.

Language

Arabic,

Arabic

I am a native Arabic language speaker, and throughout my K-12 education in the Middle East, I learned all of my school subjects (including math and science) in both Arabic and English. I have a strong understanding of the language and can make a distinction between teaching spoken/conversational Arabic and written/formal Arabic. As a result I feel quite confident in my ability to teach Arabic to those fluent in English. At the same time, I have spent a great deal of my life learning other languages, such as French, German, and Spanish, so I have a proficient understanding of how languages can be taught effectively, particularly to adults. For those reasons, I am qualified to teach language in general, Arabic in particular.
