About Sarah Hope

I have a PhD in clinical psychology from Harvard University. My areas of research include children with schizophrenia and neurobiological bases of developmental psychopathology. As an undergraduate I attended Wellesley College and majored in psychology.

I've taught courses in writing for Harvard College students, as well as several teaching assistant positions in Introductory Psychology and Abnormal Psychology. I am very familiar with tutoring in psychology related areas. I have supervised the writing of master's theses, as well as graduate-level papers for students for whom English is not their first language.

Additionally, I am a strong writer and proofreader and thoroughly enjoy helping people reach their writing goals. I can help you organize your writing, proofread drafts, whether that be for a course, or an application!

You'll find me to be prompt, easy-going, and knowledgeable, as well as VERY excited to help you in our learning process!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Throughout my doctoral training I have worked with a variety of children with emotional and behavioral problems as well as psychiatric disorders, including children with autism. I have formal training in behavior therapy as well as diagnostic training for autism spectrum disorders. I have also done informal ABA work with children with autism around social skills, completing homework, organization, and day-to-day routine activities using behavioral plans and reinforcement techniques.

Career Development

I have experience teaching college undergraduates, which included public speaking and development of presentations. Additionally, I have experience helping students prepare for graduate school interviews. I have helped students think through different career paths, apply for jobs, request recommendation letters, and write cover letters. Finally, I'm receiving my PhD in clinical psychology, and have several behavioral and cognitive strategies to help individuals overcome anxieties related to professional development---not as a psychologist, but in general, as a tutor.

College Counseling

I am a doctoral student at Harvard University, studying clinical psychology. During my time at Harvard I have mentored several students both undergraduate and graduate students about future career and education plans. I have helped students with resumes and CVs, looking for jobs and deciding what types of jobs might best help them achieve their goals. Additionally I have experience working with students completing applications for graduate school, counseling them around appropriate fits, researching programs, and writing essays that reflect them and their goals.
