I have a B.A. in history, a J.D., and an M.F.A. in creative writing. I am a published short story writer. Although I have only recently listed myself on WyzAnt (in February 2013), I have long tutored middle school and high school students in language arts, English and writing and have worked with high school students on the S.A.T. writing section, as well as college application essays.I have also worked with med school and business school applicants on their application essays and on the writing section of the GMAT. I am a lifelong student, reader and writer. I seek to give students the tools so that they too can learn to love writing and develop their own voices. I don't have a set "curriculum." I like to look at a student's writing and get a sense of his or her strengths and weaknesses. I aim to teach students how to write well-organized and compelling prose and to have fun while doing it.

Alexandra has worked with me on topics from history papers to ivy league college supplements. The feedback I received was tremendously helpful, improving my writing and my understanding of English grammar. While working on history research papers, she was prepared, having done her own research too and having brought in books. Furthermore, her knowledge has help me strengthen my college supplements. Not only did she help with the organization, but she also helped with the content. I will forever appreciate the insight she has shared with me, and hope to further implement the writing techniques she has taught me in the future. I believe she truly cares for her students.
Care student's work deeply, very honest on how much time spend to work with student. I agreed a two hours writing review work, she only charged me 65 minutes.
I worked with Alexandra last year as I prepared for my medical school applications and interviews. She was tremendously helpful at every stage of my application process. Every session was immensely helpful because Alexandra always gave me very thoughtful, constructive, and specific comments/advice. With her guidance, I was able to continue to improve my essays and interview skills.
Alexandra is an extremely attentive and dedicated person. She quickly figured out my writing style and strengths/weaknesses and then accommodated my needs. She also really listened to my stories and got to know me as a person. She has become a source of guidance and wonderful mentor that I admire.
After going through a long process of applications and interviews, I matriculated at medical school in Boston this year. I feel very, very thankful for her help along the way. There was just so much to learn from her personality, dedication, and approach.
Alexandra has a calm demeanor, beautiful voice, notable wealth of talent and expertise, including sound advice, to guide and structure me through my writing in progress for graduate school applications. She is extremely professional, punctual, generous with her time, and attentive with a great sense of humor and wit. I have thoroughly enjoyed my tutoring sessions and look forward to more of them.
Alex has assisted me with some of my GMAT preparation, and has been nothing short of superb. She is punctual, committed, and prepared! I, also, find her post-session summaries and remarks to be very constructive. I would highly recommend her for anyone in search for a skillful tutor, who is prepared to apply her skills in areas of her comfort and beyond.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have worked with students on their college and grad school admission essays, including essays for the Common App for college and essays for med school applications. Working on application essays is one of my favorite jobs. I love learning about people and strategizing with them as to what might make the most compelling subject for an essay and then helping them to find their own voice in writing it. I have a B.A. in history, a J.D., and an M.F.A. in creative writing.
I have a J.D. degree. I worked as a lawyer for almost 25 years, practicing in both the civil and criminal areas.
