About Yehonatan

I am a UC Berkeley graduate passionate about math and tutoring.

I have tutored math and statistics in the Berkeley Student Center, where I tutored students both individually and in group format, and won an award for my tutoring. I also have five years of experience tutoring high school and college students independently.

I believe everyone is capable of doing well in math -- some people may simply fall behind, get discouraged, or experience difficulties focusing in class, and in these cases the individual attention and one-on-one communication of a tutor can really help the student become comfortable with the material, and gain confidence of their own abilities.

I am a patient tutor and dedicating to helping the student become comfortable with difficult concepts by making the concepts simpler through clear explanation, and showing the student how different concepts connect.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Computer Programming

I have taken classes in Java and the theory of algorithms, and I have worked as a Java programmer at UC Berkeley Graduate Division during school. I have also taught myself other languages, such as javascript, PHP, SQL, HTML, Flash Actionscript, Matlab, Mathematica and have tutored several students in computer programming.

Logic

My studies of mathematics at UC Berkeley have given me knowledge and experience with mathematical logic. I have taken a discrete math class discussing truth tables, Boolean operations and proof techniques. I have experience working with students on the introduction to proofs. In addition, I have taken more advanced classes in the math department on the theory of sets, first-order and second-order logic and recursion theory.

MATLAB

I am an experienced MATLAB programmer. I have used it for experimental math research, as well as for data analysis, and am competent with the various computational and graphing functionalities.
