About John

As a Masters and now a PhD student, I have loved the opportunities I've gotten to work as a teacher or teaching assistant with college students. I am always impressed by how students can rise to the occasion and tackle complex or difficult problems, and I find the entire process very rewarding.

I specialize in tutoring for a broad range of classes in the social sciences and the humanities. My current research requires the ability to bring together information from a variety of different fields and make it easier to digest. In addition, I am well-suited to tutor for the verbal or writing sections of tests such as the GRE and SAT.

If you want to develop your academic or science writing skills, then I will be a tough but engaging tutor who will help you find your own voice.

I am currently doing research at Boston University on the evolutionary anthropology of hunter-gatherer religions. As a result, I am currently up to date with the cutting-edge of the psychological and social sciences, and I can give my students a broader perspective of these fields as well as precise information that they need for their own classes.

I have completed a Masters in Religion at the University of Florida and am currently working on a Ph.D. at Boston University. I have a broad and comprehensive knowledge of all of the major world religions, the history of religious thought, and the ongoing work of the study of religion in the Western academy.

I hope to be hearing form you soon!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
