About Sibyl

I am an ESL and Spanish educator with 20+ years experience teaching primarily adults in college (Boston College, Endicott College) and private institute settings (Berlitz, Inlingua). I also have a bit of an entrepreneurial spirit, thus, I began my own language program. My classes are specifically tailored to the individual... you! My method is based on the conversational approach, with solid grammar instruction, vocabulary building, reading and writing exercises supporting your speaking focus. My classes are known to be intelligent, interesting and engaging...ok, fun, too. The latest research about how we learn languages informs my teaching. My personal language background: I am bilingual and bicultural. My third language is French and I have begun studying Italian this year. So, I know, firsthand, what it's like to learn a new language, especially as an adult.

I have a deep love of the Spanish language and cultures and love to share it. I love teaching because I really enjoy working with, and learning from my clients as I assist them in their discovery of the Spanish language and the various related cultures.

I have taught at Boston University-CELOP, ELS Language Centers and others; private lessons for 20+ years.

I have taught at Boston College, Endicott College and Fisher College; private lessons for 20+ years

I have a BA in Art Education and am a professional, practicing artist; past Arts Associate of the St. Botolph Club; member of the South End Artists Association; past Commissioner for the Arts, Brookline MA

Begin your new adventure and opening new worlds for yourself today! I look forward to meeting with you.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have taught ESL for over 20 years to university students and professionals in private institutes and through private instruction (Boston University-CELOP, HIID- Jakarta Program, Endicott College, ELS, Berlitz, Inlingua).

The subjects of our conversations are guided by the interests of the student/client. Practical, every day expressions are presented and practiced so that the student can immediately apply them to every day life.
