My passion is working with middle school students who have ADHD. I have been doing this on a part time basis for over 25 years. My own children are very successful adults who live with and excel in their field with ADHD. I am a member of CHADD and I stay abreast of new information in the area. I returned to school after my children finished their masters degrees and earned a masters myself in education and organizational management.
I believe that all children can and will find success and confidence with support that reflects their learning style. I wrote my masters thesis on the advantages of hiring individuals with learning style differences in the workforce. My passion is working with middle school students who have ADHD. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have experience writing 504 plans for children with ADHD; I am an active member of CHADD.
My adult children were diagnosed with ADHD as children by Dr. Ned H. who mentored me so that I could help my children. One of my children went to Bates College and has two Master's degrees.
My younger child went to Simmons College and has a Master's in social work.
I am often asked to speak to parents and teachers.
I have done extensive work writing 504 plans and tutoring children with Aspergers. I have worked for the department of mental health for almost eight years. I worked with a family member who is currently a successful college student. In addition I have worked with five clients diagnosed with Aspergers who have gone on to college. I also have a master's in education.
I teach and design educational plans for children in grades K-5. I was the coordinator of religious studies for 15 years.
I believe all children can learn if we allow them to use their own learning style. I have successfully tutored children and helped parents advocate for their children. I have a master's in Education with emphasis in Organizational Management.
