In January, Wyzant named its "Top 250 Tutors in 2015" and I am very proud to be on that list! It was such an honor to be recognized!
The following vignette tells you almost everything you need to know about me and my methods and my success rate - While helping a student with calculus, she spontaneously exclaimed, "This is the most fun I've had in math all year!" This was coming from an average student whose goal was "don't fail math." But after working with her for a few months, she got an 'A'. Another student recently texted me "that was the most productive hour of math in my life"
This is my goal for all my students - to enjoy themselves, to enjoy learning, and to strive for excellence.
My Background: I have been a full-time classroom teacher, I have taught summer school, and I have tutored many students, from 10 year olds to law students and everything in between!
Specialties and Qualifications: Math - I majored in Applied Mathematics at Harvard, I scored a 5 on the Calculus BC Advanced Placement Exam, and achieved a perfect score on the SAT II Mathematics test.
Standardized Tests - I tutor all the major standardized tests, including the verbal/reading/writing sections. I have helped students improve their scores on the SSAT, the ACT, the SAT, the GRE, the GMAT, and the LSAT. I have helped students get into elite private schools and into college. I have helped older students get into business school and law school and I'm sure I can help you!
I have taught everything from pre-algebra through pre-calculus when I was a full time teacher at an elite private school in St Louis, Missouri. That included the full progression of Algebra, Algebra II, Trigonometry etc. I have also tutored the SAT and the LSAT many times. I scored 99th percentile on the SAT (perfect score on current scale) and 95th on the LSAT. In all I have over 20 years of experience with countless students in many different subjects. I relate well to young people and I will make our lessons fun and enjoyable - if learning is fun then it becomes easy and interesting.
Thanks for your time and consideration, and best of luck in your studies!!!

Ajay is an exceptional tutor who worked hard to assist my daughter in College Algebra. He is kind, extremely patient, and friendly, as well as his tuition rates are very reasonable given his superb educational background and great tutoring skills. We had several other tutors before but no one could help build confidence in math for my daughter. With Ajay she gradually built necessary knowledge and skills, started to score pretty well on her weekly quizzes, and eventually got a B+ final grade, which was unbelievable for us considering her poor math skills! Without a doubt, Ajay is one the best tutors around Boston. I strongly recommend him for other students!Lasha, 14 lessons with AjayTutor responded:
Your daughter Mariam worked so hard - that's what really made the difference. It's easy to be a great tutor when you have a student like Mariam!

Excellent GMAT Tutor
Ajay met with me to help me with GMAT preparation. He was excellent. I found him both engaging and fun to work with. Not only did he help me to learn the material, he also gave me the confidence I needed to succeed on that exam. From the start, he understood my needs well and was able to tailor our session to suit those needs. Before my time with Ajay, I scored a 650 on my GMAT; afterwards, I scored a 740. I believe that Ajay played a strong role in that improvement, and without him, I doubt I would have scored quite as high. I would wholeheartedly recommend his services to anyone looking for help with their GMAT preparation, or anyone looking to improve their quantitative skills.Varun, 1 lesson with Ajay
Helpful, professional tutor
Ajay worked with our daughter at the end of the summer going into her senior year. She’d been gone all summer and had very limited time before the September date that she was aiming for. She worked with him for six sessions over 3 a week period in preparation for the test. Their sessions were very focused and he worked meticulously with her to help her understand her mistakes and to learn new strategies to improve her score. They did a bit of work on the English and Math sections, but were much more focused on Science and Reading, her areas of weakness. He also gave her a good amount of work to do between sessions, and he kept her on track with this work. The work they did together was critical in her improvement from a composite score of 28 to 31, and she was excited to be able to move into senior year with this score. She decided to take one more stab at the SAT anyway, and she and Ajay worked together for another 3 sessions. She took the test in October and saw a 100-point increase from her spring score. Ajay was flexible, professional and explained the work clearly and effectively, with good results. We were grateful for his help.Megan, 9 lessons with Ajay

My child took the first SAT lesson with Ajay and gave very positive feedback. Ajay has a lot of experience with SAT tests. The first lesson they just reviewed the past PSAT and SAT scores, analyzed them, pointed out the main issue to focus on, did some reading, and Ajay left some homework to complete before next time. It is well organized and efficient. Thanks Ajay!Ying, 2 lessons with Ajay
Fantastic math help when we really needed
So appreciate Ajay’s readiness to help us with our daughter’s AB Calc needs. She has been struggling to return to class after a really rough time with her health. Thanks Ajay! We will be in touch again as the year continues.Iris, 3 lessons with Ajay
Excellent teacher; always prepared.
Ajay tutored my son Billy in college calculus I for engineering. Prior to their first meeting Ajay requested the class syllabus, and examples of current class work. Every time they met Ajay was prepared, and ready to work on the topics Billy was having trouble with. My son has a learning disability, often he won’t admit when he doesn’t understand the material. Ajay quickly caught on, when Billy would say I know that, Ajay would ask Billy to show him. Ajay worked with Billy where he was academically, and as a result Billy learned the important concepts for calculus. Billy went from failing to a B- on the last test. Ajay developed a positive relationship with Billy, this gave him confidence to move out of his comfort zone. I received honest feedback from Ajay about Billy’s strengths and challenges not only in terms of calculus, but as they related to the life skills that are necessary for success. Ajay was able to fit Billy in to his schedule, and meet with him as often as needed. Billy will continue with Ajay next semester for calculus II engineering. Ajay took a sincere interest in Billy, and was/is committed to his success. We are very fortunate to have found him.Karen, 11 lessons with Ajay

He's very patient and easygoing. My daughter warmed up to him very quickly and they were able to make a lot of progress on the first day. He was able to recognize her strength and weakness. I wished that we met him a long time ago.Farah, 8 lessons with Ajay
