I always try to delineate the problem as specifically as possible and to target it progressively in the course of studies. I work with students interactively, emphasizing the problem solving skills and creative thinking. My approach is to set the goals for a particular student and then focus on accomplishing these goals.
I graduated from Princeton University, completing my Ph.D. in Chemistry. While in Graduate School, I was teaching precepts and laboratory sessions to undergraduates. Before I went to Princeton, I was teaching Chemistry on both undergraduate and graduate levels at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I started as a tutor during my college years and continued in Graduate School. Currently, I work as as a Research Associate at Harvard Medical School, teaching occasionally. Overall, I have more then 15 years of teaching experience as a tutor and in-class teacher. The major part of my teaching experience in related to the field of Chemistry, including General, Physical, Organic, Analytical Chemistry as well as Biochemistry. I'm also teaching Mathematics,Physics and Biology. Did not meet expectations at the college level. Maybe ok for HS level chemistry. She also did not understand the needs of the student client enough to be of any meaningful assistance. Also, difficulty in communications.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. I have a strong educational background in chemistry and physics. At the same time, my work is in the field of engineering. Therefore, I can make a good connection between science and engineering and to help students to understand both subjects. I think that with my education and experience I am qualified to tutor chemical engineering.
I'm not a native English speaker but I have been teaching English at different levels for many years. I can clearly see what students have problems with and improve their learning and understanding. My major is Chemistry but I have a good experience in teaching Russian as well. I'm native Russian speaker, Russian is my first language. When I came to the US for Ph.D. program, I started to teach Russian in parallel with my main studies and found it very exciting and rewarding. While in graduate school, I did a lot of Russian teaching both in-class and as private lessons, addressing many topics - general communication, literature and writing, translations and interpreting. For the most part of my time, I worked with college and high school students, but I also have experience of teaching Russian to elementary school students and I had a chance to work with linguists as well. Currently, I also teach Russian privately, but not as much as I used to.
