Hello, everyone. My name is Christine and I am currently a Senior in college. I attend Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT and I am majoring in Communications/Media Studies with double minors in International Business and Sociology. During the summers, I take classes at Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester, MA in order to obtain either a certificate or Associate's Degree. I currently have a 3.75 GPA, and have been on the Dean's list since the fall semester of my freshman year.
In high school, on a 5.0 GPA system, I graduated with a 4.2 in the top 10% of my class, as a member of the National Honor Society. I was part of the school newspaper, and acted as a contributing writer for three years, secretary for two, and Editor in Chief my senior year. I was also the editor of the literary magazine my senior year as well. In college I was secretary of the anime club this past year, but hope to join a sorority this upcoming fall. I have also contributed to both the college newspaper and the literary magazine in the past two years as well.
While I could help with basic skills in sciences, math, Korean, my forte is English and writing, and I would very much be willing to help a student in need! I have tutored before, for my friends, so it was free of charge. I would like to begin tutoring as a side-job, as it is something I enjoy. My specialties include proofreading, grammar, and sentence structure. I am also proficient at writing essays and helping students craft a well-written analytical essay based off of readings. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have run a Mac OS for the past two and a half years, since December 2009. I am aware how to preform many tasks with the laptop, including how to turn the computer on and off, run Finder, use the search feature, as well as Pages, Numbers, and Keynote which are the Mac versions of Microsoft Office. I am familiar with Mac software Photobooth, and iMovie as well as having basic knowledge in garage band. I have advanced knowledge in iTunes, as well as safari and can inform others of other software to run on a Mac. Considering how different Macs are to Windows, I would be able to help familiarize anyone with the new OS, and help become familiar with the dock.
Sociology is the study of humans in the society we live in and have lived in in past years. The study of behavior, social interactions, class, gender, socioeconomic standing, religion, race/ethnicity and other factors are all taken into account when studying humans in their environment--how they act in certain environments and towards certain people.
Personally I have taken two sociology courses in college, will be taking my third this fall, and it is one of my two minors.
