About Stephanie

Hello,

I am a 26 year old young professional living in the Boston area. I have 2+ years teaching experience with high-school aged students. Most recently, I worked in a Special Education classroom where a variety of academic subjects were taught to students with a range of abilities. I have a wealth of experience effectively creating and implementing curriculum, with any necessary modifications (prior to and often during the lesson) to best suit the student's learning abilities. I have developed lesson plans in American and World Histories, Biology, Chemistry, Ecology, American Literature and English, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, etc.

My strengths working one-on-one include modification of communication and lesson plans to most effectively serve the individual student. I have been historically successful in recognizing my students' learning abilities and strengths, and modifying my own communication and lesson execution to best reach the student. An example of this would be a 16 year old female I worked with who struggled with dyslexia and several learning disabilities. She had low self-esteem, lacked confidence in her work, and hated to read. I worked with her one-on-one in multiple subjects for over 18 months, and by the end of our time together, she was reading for pleasure, and creating and presenting meaningful power point presentations that poignantly drew comparisons between current and historical events across various subject matter.

I genuinely love working with school-aged children and teenagers. I am enthusiastic, compassionate, and consistent. I plan to earn a Master's in Special Education in the near future.

I look forward to meeting you and your student!

Thank you,

Stephanie E.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
