I tutored math (Pre-Calculus, Calculus 1&2, linear algebra) and science (chemistry, biology, physics) all throughout college for other college students needing help and guidance in those areas. I spent the last two years teaching 8th-10th grade Computer Technology at an industrial school in Mozambique in the Peace Corps, and my classes and curricula included a lot of background in math. I also helped my students study for their national exams in math and science.
I love being able to work one on one with students and enjoy guiding them through the concepts in order for them to be able to understand the key principles behind something and ultimately be able to navigate those concepts on their own.
Both my parents are math professors, so knowledge and thirst for math kind of runs in my blood! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
