I've been writing my entire life, starting when I got a poem published in my elementary school's "literary journal" when I was in kindergarten. I've done sportswriting for my college newspaper, published reviews on Amazon, and edited my father's medical articles for grammar. I have an M.S. in Journalism from Boston University as well as a B.A. from Tufts University and another professional certificate from Northeastern University. In December 2012, I completed the tests to acquire my Massachusetts 5-12 teaching certification in English.
I have tutored college students write their papers, but I would like to expand to more age groups and more subjects. I am very patient and willing to help students for as long as it takes. I've tutored students with ADHD and other learning disabilities, as well as English Language Learners. Mainly, I want to help other people understand the English language better, and hopefully they'll also be better at writing things to describe themselves than I am! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
