My son was very resistant to the idea of a tutor but really likes Jessica and enjoys working with her. He feels it is helping him with his schoolwork and I think he feels more confident.
My daughter is so comfortable with Jessica. Her lesson plans are great and the handouts very helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am certified in Adobe InDesign by Northern Virginia Community College. I also have experience using InDesign when I created pages for my college yearbook, and later when I created fliers and other materials for a real estate office.
I majored in Chinese at the College of William and Mary and took four years of both language and culture classes. The highest level I achieved was the 400-level Chinese reading and writing, the highest level that is offered. I also spent six months living in Beijing, China, where I engaged in an intensive language program in the summer at Tsinghua University, and both language and culture studies during the fall semester at Beijing University. My husband is also a native Chinese speaker, and we often speak Chinese at home.
