About Michael

I have always enjoyed teaching throughout my life. Whether it was leading a study group with my fellow students or teaching a class of undergraduates. My goal is to help teach you not just the subject material to pass a test, but to allow you to use what you learn about the subject and apply it novel situations throughout the rest of your life.

I am a graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor's of Science in Biochemistry (cum laude). In addition to my degree I also have 3 years of analytical laboratory experience in a research setting. I have taught a weekly course to undergraduates about glycobiology for over a year, and currently am a consultant for pharmaceutical companies for the past two years.

I feel that I have the perfect blend of academics and professional experience to help you succeed.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Biology

I have a B.S. in biochemistry from the University of New Hampshire and 3 years experience in acadamic research and the pharmaceutical industry. I taught an undergraduate glycobiology course at the University of New Hampshire for a small class of students. In addition I worked as a TA for several years in college assisting students in laboratory classes and general coursework.

Genetics

I have taken multiple high level genetics classes as a part of my biochemistry degree. In which I received high marks. I am well versed with its theory/concepts and have tutored some high school students in it.

Microbiology

I have taken multiple high level microbiology classes as a part of my biochemistry degree. I am well versed with microbiology theory and concepts as well as lab techniques. I spent a year in college as microbiology TA.

Organic Chemistry

I have a bachelor's in Biochemistry in which i took Organic Chemistry 1 and 2; as well as advanced organic chemistry(4 total semesters). I earned high marks on all the courses. I also have experience teaching high level science course when I taught several undergraduates that were doing research in my lab an introductory course on glycobiology.

Proofreading

In my current role with my company I work extensively in Quality Assurance. As a result of this I am asked to review documents for small errors and make sure they are as directed as possible. I review on average 10-15 documents a week for major pharmaceutical companies and can use this experience to make any necessary corrections to student papers.
