About Lily

I am a second-year student at Northeastern University here in Boston, studying International Affairs and Economics with minors in Global Social Entrepreneurship and Spanish. With a cumulative college GPA of 3.91, I am highly qualified to assist elementary, middle, and high school students with developing good study habits and increasing their understanding of difficult subjects. I have always been passionate about helping others succeed, and while I don't have paid tutoring experience, I spent my tenure in high school working as a Spanish tutor to help other students grasp the language and assisting my peers and younger siblings with their schoolwork. I do have experience working with children in a preschool and elementary school setting, and working as a teacher of young children has fostered my love for teaching others.

Having scored highly on both the PSAT and SAT (a 227 and 2290, respectively), I would love to assist high school students with test preparation - my tutoring sessions will cover the content that is tested by these exams as well as good strategies for approaching the different sections and types of questions that students will encounter. Additionally, my college coursework covers a wide breadth of subjects and I am eager to help high school students in a vast array of courses, including specifically Spanish, English, and Mathematics through BC Calculus. I took eight Advanced Placement exams in high school, scoring 4's and 5's on all tests, and have plenty of experience with both developing test strategies for these exams as well as the content that will be tested. I am also eager to serve as a tutor for elementary and middle school students; I have plenty of experience with younger children in a school setting and, having worked to develop preschool curriculum in the past, feel comfortable with early education.

If you are struggling with preparing for an upcoming test or just want some support for a difficult class, I would love to do everything I can to help you! Please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to helping you reach your academic goals.

I scored a 740 on the SAT Math section when I took the test in December 2014, which contributed to a total SAT score of 2290. I have stayed up to date on test format and question types. I also scored an 800 on the Math II SAT Subject Test. I will be able to assist students with both mathematical content that will be tested by the SAT as well as strategies for the different question types.

I am pursuing a Spanish minor as part of my undergraduate degree and have completed collegiate-level Spanish classes through the Advanced II level. Additionally, having studied abroad in a Spanish-speaking country, I am well-versed in assisting students with conversational skills as well as explaining grammar rules clearly.

I scored a 790 on the SAT Writing section and a 760 on the SAT Reading section when I took the test in December 2014, for a total SAT score of 2290. I have stayed up to date on test format and question types. I feel comfortable assisting students with content, including vocabulary and grammar rules, as well as test strategy.

In my junior year of high school, I scored a 227 on the PSAT, which ultimately led to my selection as a National Merit Scholar. I will be able to assist students with both studying the content tested by the PSAT as well as developing strategies for approaching the different question types.

Please feel free to contact me for more information about my tutoring services! My schedule is flexible and I am willing to work with you to find a time for a tutoring session.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am qualified to tutor in this subject because, as a preschool teaching assistant, I have experience working with kindergartners in a classroom setting, knowledge which will extend to other elementary grades. In addition. I also volunteer with the after school program at the Rafael Hernandez School, which involves working with elementary school students in a tutoring setting. Extensive babysitting experience and experience working with children will lend itself well to tutoring at this level.

Spanish

I am pursuing a Spanish minor as part of my undergraduate degree and have completed collegiate-level Spanish classes through the Advanced II level. Additionally, having studied abroad in a Spanish-speaking country, I am well-versed in assisting students with conversational skills as well as explaining grammar rules clearly.
