About Jada

I'm a recent graduate of New York University, where I received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I currently work for the College Advising Corps as a college adviser at a Collaborative High School. I have experience as a tutor and a teaching assistant. I have tutored through the Petey Greene Program in New York, which placed me at Riker's Island. At Riker's, I tutored 16-17 year old boys in high school English, Math, and Science classes. I was also able to co-facilitate college workshops for our incarcerated students. In addition, I was a private tutor in New York, where I tutored middle schools students in reading and writing. Lastly, I have experience as a teaching assistant for an Introduction to Psychology course at NYU. I had my own class of 15 students, who I gave a recitation lecture to once a week.

My experiences as a tutor and teaching assistant have shown me my passion for access to educational resources. I believe that every student deserves to have access to additional resources, and I aim to be a part of making sure that access exists. While I enjoyed having a class of my own as a teaching assistant, I love tutoring because it allows me to provide individualized support to each of my students that they may not receive in school. With my experiences and passion for education, I am excited to hopefully be a resource for you!

I have always loved reading and writing. I have done well in English subjects throughout my secondary and post-secondary careers, and these are the subjects in which I have mainly tutored students. I also have experience writing as a blogger for the Huffington Post and have had to learn professional proofreading, editing, and revising skills through this opportunity. I believe that my passion for English and writing, as well as my competence in these areas, makes me a great English tutor!

Please feel free to contact me to learn more about my tutoring services and to schedule lessons. I look forward to speaking with you!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

College Counseling

I am currently employed as a college adviser at the Boston Collaborative High School. I help students with the entire college application process, including brainstorming a college list, registering for the SAT, writing the personal statement, and completing the FAFSA. In addition, I help students find alternative pathways to college if they are not immediately able or ready to attend a traditional four-year school. My main goal is to help students find the college that is the best match and fit for them, whether that's a four-year college, a community college, or some other alternative program.
