About Laura

I have loved reading and writing ever since I was in pre-school, when I picked up a book and started learning to read on my own. As time went on and I grew older, I began helping my friends and classmates with reading, and soon added writing, spelling and grammar to my list of favorite subjects after winning my 6th grade spelling bee and an 8th grade essay contest, and writing four short stories of my own.

Now, as a rising senior in Boston University's journalism program, I feel I've truly honed the craft of writing through my various writing and English classes. I have extensive experience writing and proofreading essays, articles, stories and other publications from friends and myself. I also served as an editor for the university newspaper, The Daily Free Press, which gave me some valuable experience in the editing field.

Writing is difficult, and if there is no passion or heart within the practice, it's just that much harder. My goal is to help improve skills while finding the passion and heart within.

I received AP credit from AP English and AP Literature classes in Bishop George Ahr High School's honors program. The credits have now enabled me to graduate from Boston University's College of Communication a semester early with cum laude honors. I have been writing for BU's newspaper, The Daily Free Press, for three years and have also served in an editorial position, which has greatly improved my proficiency in proofreading, editing, and, re-writing.

Writing papers is often hated by students and is a dreaded assignment to receive. But I'm lucky enough to have found my true passion and dream career in writing, and I would love to help others feel the same!

Please contact me if you need help with any writing or reading needs. We will work at your speed and your comfort level, for as much time as needed. My goal is to help you express your thoughts the best!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

English

I received college credit from AP Literature and AP Language Arts tests and am now entering my final year in Boston University's journalism program, from which I will graduate a semester early. I currently have a 3.5 GPA and countless writing experience both in and out of the classroom. I have written for the university newspaper for three years and have also served in an editorial position. I have also written for three online publications, while peer editing my colleagues' works.
