About Stephanie

I hated reading as a child. In fact, I used to assign myself the same book over and over during library time, just so I would not have to work on my spelling. My parents wanted me to be able to speak their native languages fluently and made sure I entered elementary school without watching any normal TV shows or reading any English books (I am grateful for that now, but as a child, it was terrifying).

However, things changed quickly, and by fourth grade, I was reading at a seventh-grade level. Then, I became a comparative literature major. Who would have known? All throughout college and law school, I tutored for the schools I attended. I taught a review session for a calculus course and joined a tutoring program where I helped students who were struggling with college English assignments. I never forgot what it felt like to learn a new language, and I hope that the students I tutor will one day also love reading and writing as much as I do now.

I look forward to working with you!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
