Hello! My name is Rudy. I am a French native speaker and have been living in the USA since 1999. I hold a Master and a Ph.D. in French Literature, Linguistics and Gender Studies from the University of Texas, from which I also received a teaching award. I also hold a Master in German linguistics, literature and civilization (with honors) from the University of Nantes (France) and Rostock (Germany). I am a university professor and a tutor with 20 years of teaching experience. I have taught literature and languages, French, Spanish, German, A.P. courses and ESL both at the high school and the university levels.
Before moving to the United States in 1999, I taught German at a high school in France for students with learning disabilities. Then, I taught all levels of French (French II through French IV and A.P. French) at a High School in Columbus, GA, while working as a Language Tutor at the Student Guidance Service. At Louisiana Tech University, I taught all levels of French, German and ESL. As a result of my commitment to teaching, I was invited three years in a row to teach French in a Summer Immersion Program for high school and university students at the Université Sainte Anne (Nova Scotia). I have also been teaching Beginning and Intermediate Spanish at Stonehill since 2010. At the University of Texas at Austin, in addition to teaching, I worked on creating material to be used in the first year French and collaborated in the elaboration of Français Interactif, a computer-assisted language learning approach, which won a GALLICO Access to Language Education Award. I contributed to the development of Pause Café by Nora Megharbi, Stephanie Pellet, and Carl Blyth (McGraw-Hill). I edited a French textbook, Français-Monde. At Stonehill, I implemented technology (video making, lecture capture, and eLearn Assessments) to improve both teaching and students’ learning experience in Spanish. I also created a website for my French students to further their four skills while connecting with the material at a personal level. In addition to languages (French, Spanish, German, ESL), I am comfortable preparing students for the T.O.E.F.L exam and teaching them history and writing as my research is highly embedded in history. In fact, I taught graduate English courses at Louisiana Tech University. I am a teacher and a tutor because I have a passion for guiding students through the process of learning, in addition to a passion for the material I present. Feel free to contact me and we can start working together.

For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
