My name is Pierre, and I hold a Bachelor's from Harvard College and a Master's from Harvard Divinity School. I have taught SAT English (Verbal and Writing) to high school students over an eight-year period and feel rather confident in my ability to teach all levels. In my previous tutoring work, I created curriculum to teach the SAT Verbal and Writing sections. Over the years, I have worked with over 300 students not only in SAT preparation (Verbal and Writing) but also in college essay writing (expository writing), Spanish, English as a Second Language, and in preparing college applications (essays, resumes, etc). If you are looking for a tutor to help you improve your writing, I would be a great choice. I currently write for the Huffington Post and have contributed to other publications and blogs including NBC.

In addition to the SAT, I am comfortable teaching Spanish, basic mathematics, and public speaking/media training. In fact, I was a fellow at a national media institute and have received much training in interviewing, public speaking, television appearances, and general communications. I am happy to help students in these areas, as I have given a number of media training workshops. Feel free to contact me if you are interested. Whether you pick me or another tutor, I wish you the best of luck in your preparation.

Cancellation Policy--I have a 12-hour cancellation policy. Please be mindful when scheduling classes.

Location--I am happy to travel to your home, library, or coffee shop for lessons as long as these places are accessible by public transportation.

Public Speaking

I am the Communications and Marketing Coordinator for the national institute on domestic violence for the Latino community in the United States. Before my current job, I was a National Fellow at the Gay Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation's People of Color Media Institute where I obtained extensive training on working with the media, specifically public speaking, television and radio interviewing, and presentations. Furthermore, I was part of the New American Leaders Project (NALP) where I obtained extensive training in political organizing through the lens of marketing and communications (media training, public speaking, talking points, framing). I have given several workshops on media training, social media, and organizational/company messaging. These workshops have taken place locally here in Boston and nationally.

College essay

How to construct a beautifully designed essay. His help was invaluable and we can’t speak highly enough about him as a person and as a teacher and a mentor. He goes above and beyond to help with the process from start to finish. Pierre’s actually cares about this students and has motivated my daughter to reach her goals and dreams.

Help with college essay

I went to him for help with my college essay and he's excellent! He communicates well, listens to your ideas and thoughts, and helps with the challenging aspects to an essay. He was able to reciprocate my thoughts in well developed sentences.

Pierre is good teacher!

We like the teacher very much. We all believe he is a very knowledgeable, educated but humble person. The first meeting was to sort out the general plan for college.
