My name is Elin.
I have two years of tutoring experience in Hindi-Urdu, and tutored independently as well as for my undergraduate college. I have been studying Hindi and Urdu for five years, and spent two years studying these languages intensively in north India. I would consider myself advanced in speaking, listening, reading, and writing these languages.
I am also studying Persian and Sanskrit to support my Hindi-Urdu studies. Currently I volunteer as an Urdu linguist for at an online language learning site and also handle social media for the site.
Recently, I tutored a sixty-year-old woman once a week in Hindi and Urdu. I also was a tutor at Wellesley College for the beginning Hindi/Urdu class. I helped my students with understanding grammar, syntax, and pronunciation. For me, teaching languages is exciting and I want to pursue a career in Hindi-Urdu language instruction. My name is Elin.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I got my Bachelor of Arts in South Asia studies, and in my degree, I studied Hindi, Urdu, and Sanskrit. During my junior year, I lived in Varansi, India for a year where I studied Hindi and Sanskrit. After I graduated, I spent a year in Lucknow, India studying Urdu and Persian. Now I volunteer for a website and make free Urdu language learning materials. I also do translation work on the side and tutor in Hindi. I tutored at my college for the elementary Hindi class and also tutored Hindi-Urdu independently in my hometown.
