I vividly remember that an episode of 'The Magic School Bus' I watched at 5 years old sparked my love of biology - a love that has never changed. My Bachelor of Science in Biology is from The Catholic University of America, and my Master of Prosthetics and Orthotics is from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. I was privileged to spend two years working in a biology laboratory at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, and during my time at Catholic University, I was a tutor for a program called DC Reads. I worked at several schools throughout DC, tutoring students ranging from Kindergarten to twelfth grade, with a focus in Mathematics and English. Watching and charting the progress of these students was motivation and encouragement to come up with innovative ways to help the students approach and truly understand the material. My best days were ones in which I could make a student laugh despite frustration over difficult material.
I specialize in tutoring math, science (specifically Biology), English, and SAT preparation. One of my goals is to treat each unique student as just that. All students have different learning styles, and I strive to pinpoint and tutor to each specific learning style. I am very open to feedback and suggestions from both parents and students.
I am happy to travel to a location near to you. I look forward to hearing from you, and I wish you all the best in your studies!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have several years of tutoring experience, with concentrations in Biology, English, and Math. I work full-time in a biology research laboratory, and worked for several years in healthcare prior. I enjoy tutoring one-on-one, especially as it allows me to tailor my lessons to each student's learning style and goals.
I have been an English tutor for 3 years through DC Reads.
